#2 St. Louis, Missouri – Joplin, Missouri (327 miles). This map section begins in St. Louis, the largest city on Route 66 between Chicago and Los Angeles.
Missouri is hilly
Between St. Louis and Springfield, cyclists will encounter more significant hills as you traverse the northern portion of the Ozark Mountains.
The route parallels I-44 following the frontage roads and going back and forth on either side of the highway.
