With a length of 180 km and an average width of 50 km, this archipelago is formed by more than forty small islands and the main island: Isla Grande de Chiloé. It is the largest group of islands in South America, after the island of Tierra del Fuego. In this region, there are more than 300 days of rain per year and the flora is dominated by plants that can only grow with a sufficient supply of water. The fauna is also unique, there are pudśs (deer), monitos del monte (opossums) and many others.
