This guide focuses on the average and lower parts of the Wye Valley, about to the point where the river leaves its higher course in the center of Wales to enter the Herefordshire. Hay – on – Wye, Hereford and the fortified city of Chepstow are also covered, as well as the classic view of the sinuous Wye Valley of Symonds Yat. We often find impressive ruins of medieval castles, striking reminder of the old war in the region.
