A high balcony of Garonne in Roussillon, between Ariège and Catalonia, not to mention the Andorra and its Romanesque churches, Thierry Guinhut, walker, writer and photographer, seized the polymorphous beauty of the Pyrenees of the East, less prestigious probably than those located. Further in the west, and yet prodigiously varied, offering as revenge to these mountains sometimes unknown. With 400 photographs, often grandiose, if not at the limit of pure abstraction, always precisely commented, we walk among the great natural monuments, but also to discover more intimate sites. Deep valleys of the couserans, shepherds and sheep, wandering mists, huts and surier refuges, “written stones” of Capcir oppose the Lombard Tours and the Romanesque frescoes of the VAL de Bol, at the Falaises and Gorges Southern slope, to the Serras Catalan reddish which take an incredibly exotic dimension. Hundreds of lakes and needles, as in the National Park of Aigues Tours, alternate with the villages sometimes abandoned, the automas trails follow the snowy traces towards the ridges, from the glaciers of the aneeto, to the Mediterranean flanks of the Mediterranean Canigou, passing through the iconic Pedraforca which is a little the Ossau des Catalans … thanks to thirty – two weeks of walking, both by its images and the richness of its evocative texts, Thierry Guinhut unfolds for us the contours , the colors and challenges of a mountainous chain with breathtaking shapes and sometimes never seen. A treat for the eye as much as for the spirit by the aesthetic dimension of photography and by the encyclopedic patience of a meditated, ordered and documented trip, on both sides of the contrasts of slopes and borders. .
