• The route connects major cities between Chicago and New York; • Numerous railroads and divided roads are used along the route; • With the addition of Bike Route 66, this route completes a cross-country connection from Los Angeles to New York.
This section enters the Appalachians
Most of it follows valleys but you will encounter several ridge crossings with steep climbs and descents.
On the Pennsylvania-New Jersey border, the route winds along quiet roads through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
Continuing east, New York State Bike Route 9 takes you through the city and all the way to the end of the road at the southern tip of Manhattan.
